01The path

Three pillars, in order. One credible engineer.

This is what the 1-to-1 mentorship covers: the exact path working data engineers used to break in. Build the skill, learn the context, prove it on a page.

  1. Pillar 01: Technical

Build it with your own hands.

OutcomeYou can build it, not just talk about it.

  2. Pillar 02: Domain Knowledge

Operate like someone already on the team.

OutcomeYou think and operate like an in-team engineer.

  3. Pillar 03: Exposure

Become visible to the people who hire.

    OutcomeVisible, credible, hireable.

Where you start on the path depends on where you are now. We work that out on the call.

02Why data

Data is everywhere. Be the person who makes it functional.

Every card payment, train time, hospital appointment and song you stream runs on data. Take it away and the business behind it stops.

  • BankingFraud checks on every card payment.
  • RetailWhat goes on the shelf tomorrow.
  • HealthcareAppointments, beds and waiting lists.
  • TransportLive train times and delay alerts.
  • EnergyThe grid balanced minute by minute.
  • StreamingWhat plays next, picked for you.

The foundation

Data, under every one of them.

Collected, cleaned and kept flowing by data engineers.

Every company has the data. Few have people who can make it work. That gap is your way in.

03The problem

Most people do not fail at data engineering. They stall learning it alone.

The material is everywhere. What is missing is the order, the context and someone telling you when your work is not good enough yet.

Topic Learning alone Learning one to one
What you build Another course, another certificate. Working pipelines, built end to end.
The order Tools picked because LinkedIn said so. A fixed path. Skill, then context, then proof.
The projects Toy datasets from tutorials. Projects modelled on real production systems.
Feedback Nobody reads your code. Every project reviewed by a working engineer.
Getting hired Applications into silence. A CV, portfolio and interview story that hold up.
04FAQ

Before you book.

Still unsure after this? That is exactly what the call is for. It is free, and you leave with a clear next step either way.

Is this right for me?

Read both lists. I would rather you ruled yourself out now than six weeks in.

Book a call if

  • You are switching careers and want a structured route in, not another playlist.
  • You are a data analyst who wants to build the pipelines, not just query them.
  • You have no CS degree and are tired of being filtered out before a human reads your CV.
  • You will build between sessions, not just turn up to them.
  • You are ready to invest properly in one to one mentorship.

Do not book if

  • You want a guaranteed job or a fixed salary promised up front.
  • You are shopping on price.
  • You want to watch videos passively and skip the building.
  • You cannot give it consistent time each week.
  • You want results without feedback on your own code.
Will AI replace data engineers?
AI does not run on its own. It needs data, a lot of it, prepared correctly, and data engineers are the people who bring it in, clean it and keep it flowing. The engineers in demand are the ones on current tools who keep learning, and that is what we build towards.
I do not have a computer science degree. Does that rule me out?
No. I did not come from a computer science degree either, and most people I work with come from outside tech. What gets you hired is being able to build a working pipeline and explain it.
Do I need to know how to code already?
No. If you have never written Python or SQL, that is where we start. If you are an analyst who already writes SQL every day, we skip ahead.
Can I not just learn this for free?
You can learn a lot for free. What free content cannot do is review your work, tell you what a hiring manager will flag, or keep you building in the right order. That is what the 1-to-1 is for.
Am I too old, or too late, to start?
No. I have mentored people from their twenties into their fifties. Data and AI is a young field, and most of the tools teams use now are only a few years old, so starting today does not put you behind.
How much time does it take each week?
Sessions with me, plus consistent building in between. People who dip in and out do not get the result.
What does it cost?
It is a premium one to one programme and priced that way. We cover the number on the call, once we both know the fit is right.
Is a job guaranteed?
No, and be wary of anyone who promises one. What I can promise is real work, honest feedback and a clear route. UK salaries vary by role, region and experience.
What happens on the call?
We look at where you are now and what you want next, and I tell you honestly whether the mentorship is right for you. It is free, and there is no obligation.
